Phyllis Kochavi
Phyllis is also a Carlisle consultant with her own established clientele. She converted a former racket ball court on her property in La Canada into a spacious Carlisle studio. Mary Lin is now sharing this space with Phyllis. We also share the task of setting up and taking down the Collection. As we continue to support each other in running our businesses, there may be times that Phyllis might assist you or I may assist one of Phyllis’s clients.
Phyllis has an impressive background. She has been involved in the clothing industry her entire life: from working at her father’s wholesale dry goods store in Providence, R.I. to Filene’s department store in Boston, MA to Bullock’s Wilshire in Los Angeles.
Phyllis graduated from the George Washington University in Washington, DC., where she majored in English Literature. After graduation she moved to NYC and worked for a NY lingerie company, writing the fashion catalogues. Marriage lead to a move to California and graduate school at USC. Phyllis received her master’s degree in Public Administration with a health services specialty. She then worked at both Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles and as the Administrator of Volunteer Services at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
After raising two children and being actively involved in both the La Canada Flintridge Educational Foundation and The Frostig School in Pasadena, Phyllis returned to her love of fashion and started her Carlisle agency in 2004.
Leah Cullen
Leah has been helping me since I began my Carlisle agency in 1993. She helps with set up and take down. Leah has a real flair for making our displays look terrific. During the shows she helps my clients select what looks best on them and offers all the possible ways to wear their selections.
When not helping me Leah creates beautiful weddings for brides and grooms. You may also see her during The Pasadena Showcase helping Conchita O’Kane with jewelry sales. Leah developed her creative skills during her many active volunteer years with Las Floristas which benefits Rancho Las Amigos. Leah’s problem solving skills were put to good use during her many years on the Big Island in Hawaii managing the club floor at the Ritz Carlton. She is also a former Rose Bowl Queen.
Amy Schulz
Amy is my behind scenes assistant who keeps me from being overwhelmed. She updates the file files with fabric swatches, helps with mailings, deals with deliveries if I am gone, does inventory, set up and down, unpacks UPS deliveries, and much more. Best of all Amy lives next door, so it’s easy to deal with short time commitments.
Amy is a writer and graduate of Northern Arizona University. I am so lucky to have her proof read most of my important documents. She has been honing her wordsmith skills by taking poetry classes.
Ernestina Martinez
Ernestina has been my housekeeper for decades, but she does more than merely keep my house clean. She helps get the grids up and has helped with lots of other Carlisle duties over the years. I could not run a home based business without her.
Ernestina also does before and after school day care at St. Francis of Rome Catholic School. She has studied early childhood development. She has a son in college and a straight “A” daughter in high school.
